We are a family located on a 1/3 of an acre in Stittsville, Ontario (just west of Ottawa) that just loves our Olde Bulldogge. We are working with Angel's Bulldogges in the interest of bettering the breed and to educate people not familiar with it and hope to help other breeders in continuing to produce heathier bulldogges.
The site Bulldogges of North America by Debbie Hegarty gives the history of bulldogs and describs three of the unique breeds of bulldogges that were created in North America. These breeds include the Victorian Bulldogge, Renascence Bulldogge and Olde English Bulldogge.
From Angel Bulldoggs: "In ancient times breeds were not as we know them today. It is believed that the original Bulldog was created about two thousand years ago, by selective breeding of English Mastiff type dogs to produce a smaller more agile dog.
The Bulldogs of old were very different from today's English Bulldog. Ancient Bulldogs were taller more agile and had longer muzzles. During the past few
decades efforts have been made to reproduce the Bulldog of old. The result is an alternative breed referred to as the Olde English Bulldogge".
